2014 Richard Pratt Fellowships in Prostate Cancer
The Victorian Cancer Agency uses SmartyGrants to administer our grants. SmartyGrants is an online grant management system that provides easy-to-use online application forms, as well as report management for successful applicants.
Unless otherwise stated the Victorian Cancer Agency 2014-15 funding rounds must adhere to the Victorian Cancer Agency Funding Rules (PDF 229KB).
The Victorian Cancer Agency in partnership with the Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre and the Melbourne Academic Centre for Health will be offering Clinical Research Fellowships and Early Career Seed Grants. All eligible Victorians are encouraged to apply. Regional and non-medical applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
Clinical Research Fellowships
The aims of the Victorian Cancer Agency Clinical Research Fellowships are to:
- develop the future leaders of cancer research in Victoria
- support clinical research by providing opportunities for clinicians to develop and sustain a career in cancer research, and
- attract and/or retain the best cancer researchers with significant research potential to Victoria.
Clinical Research Fellowships are aimed at strengthening and supporting clinical cancer research. The purpose is to increase the pool of clinician researchers working directly on clinical problems. These groups can strongly influence the translation of cancer research into practice, and build local capacity in translational cancer research.
Early Career Seed Grants

The objectives of the Victorian Cancer Agency Early Career Seed Grants are to:
- Support high quality cancer research conducted by early career researchers who are able to demonstrate clear evidence of translational research capacity.
- Provide limited seed funding as a means of enhancing competitiveness of early career researchers to enable leverage of further funding from granting bodies or industry.
The Victorian Cancer Agency Early Career Seed Grants are designed to support early career researchers undertaking high quality translational cancer research. The grants provide limited seed funding to encourage and retain talented individuals in the field of cancer research in Victoria.
ONJCWC Supportive Care Research PhD Scholarships
The Victorian Cancer Agency has funded the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre (ONJCWC), Austin Health to establish and oversee the awarding of Supportive Care Research Scholarships. These Scholarships will be established in collaboration with La Trobe University/Austin Health Clinical School.
ONJCWC Supportive Care Research PhD Scholarships aim to increase the pool of experienced researchers that are able to conduct high quality research into supportive care that will translate to patient benefit.
PhD Scholarships are available to suitably qualified individuals wishing to undertake a full-time PhD by research project.
2014 Richard Pratt Fellowships in Prostate Cancer Research
The Richard Pratt Fellowships in Prostate Cancer Research are a joint initiative between the VCA and the Richard Pratt Fellowships in Prostate Cancer Research Foundation. They recognise the philanthropic efforts of Richard Pratt in supporting young people and cancer research.
The objectives of the Richard Pratt Fellowships in Prostate Cancer Research are to:
- Support high quality prostate cancer research conducted by early career researchers who are able to demonstrate clear evidence of translational research capacity.
- Provide limited seed funding to encourage and retain talented individuals in the field of prostate cancer research in Victoria.
The 2014 Richard Pratt Fellowship in Prostate Cancer Research will support an early career researcher in a prostate cancer research project with a focus in bioinformatics. This project may exist within a larger prostate cancer research project.
Bioinformatics is defined as an interdisciplinary scientific field that develops methods and software tools for storing, retrieving, organising and analysing biological data.
