Translational Research Projects
This Victorian Cancer Agency Translational Research Projects Funding Scheme seeks proposals that will enable the translation of basic research discoveries into the clinic (ie early phase clinical translation (T1)).
Applications with an emphasis on investigator-initiated development of new immunotherapeutic approaches informed by genomic/biomarker studies will be funded as a priority.
It is expected that proposals will be able to demonstrate significant pre-clinical data to support their hypothesis and will involve early-phase clinical studies aimed at generating clinical information such as: safety, efficacy, pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic and dose-escalation data.
Health Services Research Projects
The intention of this funding scheme is to fund health services research with a focus on improving the delivery of care for cancer patients, improving patient outcomes and the patient experience; and developing research capacity in cancer services. The funding scheme will be jointly funded by the Victorian Cancer Agency and the Victorian Integrated Cancer Services and will be guided by the cancer reform objectives: improving multidisciplinary care, care coordination, supportive care and reducing unwarranted variation in care. We are seeking to fund multidisciplinary, collaborative research projects with a focus on implementation.
Clinical Research Fellowships
The aims of the Victorian Cancer Agency Clinical Research Fellowships are to:
- develop the future leaders of cancer research in Victoria
- support clinical research by providing opportunities for clinicians to develop and sustain a career in cancer research, and
- attract and/or retain the best cancer researchers with significant research potential to Victoria
Clinical Research Fellowships are aimed at strengthening and supporting clinical cancer research. The purpose is to increase the pool of clinician researchers working directly on clinical problems. These groups can strongly influence the translation of cancer research into practice, and build local capacity in translational cancer research.
Mid-Career Research Fellowships
The Victorian Cancer Agency Mid-Career Research Fellowship Scheme is a new Scheme designed to support mid-career researchers undertaking high quality translational cancer research. The grant aims to support and retain talented individuals in the field of cancer research in Victoria.
The objectives of the Mid-Career Research Fellowships are to:
- Support high quality cancer research conducted by mid-career researchers who are able to demonstrate clear evidence of translational research capacity.
- Provide funding as a means of enhancing competitiveness of mid-career researchers to enable them to leverage further funding from granting bodies or industry.
Early Career Seed Grants
The objectives of the Early Career Seed Grants are to:
- Support high quality cancer research conducted by early career researchers who are able to demonstrate clear evidence of translational research capacity.
- Provide limited seed funding as a means of enhancing competitiveness of early career researchers to enable leverage of further funding from granting bodies or industry.
- Facilitate collaboration related to the research project.
The Victorian Cancer Agency Early Career Seed Grants are designed to support early career researchers undertaking high quality translational cancer research. The grants provide limited seed funding to encourage and retain talented individuals in the field of cancer research in Victoria.
